Install the Ecologue Mobile App

The Ecologue mobile app is currently under development and not available on the Google Play Store.

This page will guide testers through installing the app using the Firebase App Tester app.

Requirements

• A Google account

• An Android device running Android 9 or higher with at least 20 GB of internal storage

• Internet connectivity for initial setup

Installation

1. Send a request to the Ecologue team at ecologue@diversityarrays.com and include the following:

• A short explanation of why you want to use Ecologue

• A Google (Gmail) address so we can add you to the tester list

Once we receive that information, we can process the request.

2. After being accepted as a tester, you’ll receive an email invitation. On your Android device, open the email and select the Get Started button. This opens the App Tester invitation link.

3. Tick the checkbox to share your details with Firebase, then select the Start testing on this device button.

4. Select the Download App Tester button and download the App Tester APK.

5. You may get a notification about the file being harmful. This is because it is an app installation file. Select the Download anyway button.

6. Find the downloaded installation file on your device. Select it to begin the installation.

7. A security warning may appear because the file is from an unknown source. Select the Settings button to open your device’s security settings.

8. Enable the option to allow apps from this source.

9. Once permission is granted, the installation prompt for App Tester will appear. Select Install. If it doesn’t appear automatically, open the installation file again.

10. After installation, open the App Tester app, then select the Ecologue version you want to install.

11. You’ll be prompted again to share details with Firebase, this time for the Ecologue app. Tick the checkbox and select the Start testing on this device button.

12. Select the Download button for the release of Ecologue that you want to download.

13. You will need to repeat steps 7,8, and 9 to allow the installation of Ecologue.

14. Ecologue should now be installed! Select the Open button to launch the app and begin using it.
