Article summary

Overview

When sending samples from outside Australia, you must ensure your seeds are pulverised to the consistency of a fine flour so the sample can pass Australia’s strict quarantine laws. See the Australian Border Force website for more information.

How to send seeds from outside Australia

  • About 70-90mg of pulverised seeds should be sampled in to each well of an approved Microtube Rack System.
  • Take care to avoid cross-contamination between samples.
  • Ensure you use the correct plasticware. Read Plasticware for pulverized seeds for more information.
  • Label the tubes with their well position within the plate.
  • Leave tubes G12 and H12 empty, as these are used for control purposes.
